M/S OFFICE PUBLISHER 2007 CLASS

INTRODUCTION

 

PUBLISHER: Can be defined as a member of Microsoft office that is used for publication and some designs. It also contains some already made designed on them.

 

USES OF PUBLISHER

  1. It is used for publications
  2. It is used for some graphic designs
  3. It is used to design calendar, Complementary, and ID card e.t.c

 

HOW TO OPEN PUBLISHER ENVIRONMENT

  1. Click on the start bar
  2. Then the start menu will appear
  3. Click on all program
  4. Search for Microsoft office and click
  5. Then click on publisher for the environment to appear

 

FEATURES OF PUBLISHER

We have the bars and buttons that make up publisher’s environment

 

TITLE BAR: This display the name of the current file or program you are working on. Contains minimize, maximize and close button

 

MENU BAR: This contains some of the menus of publishers environment that is located on the second line bar. List of items like file, view etc

 

STANDARD BAR: It contains some of the shortcut tools or menus of the menu bar. Like save, open etc

 

FORMATTING BAR: It is the fourth line bar of the publisher environment that has some of the available menus of publisher which appears in symbols.

 

TOOL BAR OPTIONS:

It carries some of the drawing tools or menus of the publisher environment and it is located at the left side of the publisher environment.

 

RULER BAR: These are used to measure an object on publisher environment. The ruler bar is made up of horizontal and vertical rulers which are used for measurement on the publisher.

 

SCROLL BAR: This is used to view the entire page on the publisher environment: it also contain vertical & horizontal scroll

 

PAGE BAR: This is located at the bottom screen of the publisher environment, that displays the numbers of page you are working on, on the publisher environment.

 

TASK BAR: it is also located at the bottom screen of the publisher environment, which carries the windows of any page you are working on.

 

HOW TO REMOVE THE BLUE LINE ON THE PUBLISHER PAGE

  1. Go to the menu bar
  2. Click on view
  3. Click on boundaries and guide
  4. Or control (shift o)

 

HOW TO SET YOUR PAGE ON PUBLISHER

  1. Click on file
  2. Click on page set up
  3. Then the page set up dialog box will appear
  4. Click on printer and paper
  5. Go to size open it and search for A4 paper then choose
  6. Go to orientation and choose your paper orientation
  7. Either landscape or portrait
  8. Then click ok

 

HOW TO TYPE ON PUBLISHER ENVIRONMENT

  1. Go the tools bar option
  2. Click on text box
  3. Move to where you want to type
  4. Click and draw a box that will contain your text
  5. G to the formatting bar
  6. Click on font & choose your size then type

 

HOW TO DUPLICATE AN OBJECT ON PUBLISHER

  1. Click on the object
  2. Then go to your keyboard
  3. press control “c” to copy
  4. Then press control “v” to paste

 

HOW TO CREATE A TABLE ON PUBLISHER

We have two method of creating a table on publisher

FIRST METHOD

  1. Go to tools bar option
  2. Click on insert table
  3. Then move to where you want to create the table
  4. Click and draw
  5. Then a dialog box will appear
  6. Type in the numbers of columns and rows you need
  7. Click on check book register
  8. Click on ok
  9. Then the table will appear on your page

 

N/B. To remove the colours on the table

  1. Highlight the table
  2. Go the formatting bar
  3. Click on fill colour
  4. Click on no fill

 

SECOND METHOD

  1. Go to the menu bar
  2. Click on table
  3. Click on insert table
  4. Click on table
  5. then create table dialog box will appear
  6. Then type in the numbers of columns and rows you want
  7. Click on check book register
  8. Click on ok

 

HOW TO APPLY LINE SPACING ON YOUR TEXT

  1. Highlight the text
  2. Go to formatting bar
  3. Click on line space
  4. Then line spacing dialog box will appear
  5. Go to between line and click to increase the spacing of the text
  6. After that click ok

 

HOW TO INCREASE THE ZOOM SIZE OF A PAGE

  1. Go to the standard bar
  2. Click on zoom out to reduce the page
  3. Or click on zoom in to increase the page

 

HOW TO GROUP AN OBJECT ON PUBLISHER

  1. Highlight the two objects
  2. Go to the symbol that appears below & click to group

 

HOW TO UNGROUP AN OBJECT

  1. Click on the group object
  2. Move to the symbols that appears below and click
  3. Then you have ungroup the object

 

HOW TO APPLY A DROP CAP ON PUBLISHER

  1. Highlight the single text you want to apply a drop cap
  2. Go to the formatting bar
  3. Click on drop cap
  4. A dialog box will appear
  5. Search for the one of your choice
  6. Click on ok

 

HOW TO MEASURE AN OBJECT

  1. After drawing the object
  2. Click on the object
  3. Go to your menu bar
  4. Click on format
  5. Click on auto shape
  6. Click on size
  7. Type in the height and width of the size you need
  8. Then click on ok

 

HOW TO INSERT EXTRA PAGE ON PUBLISHER

  1. Right click on page one
  2. Click on insert page
  3. Then the insert page dialog box will appear
  4. Type in the number of page you need then click on ok

 

PUBLISHER’S EXERCISES. (EXERCISE ONE)

CALENDAR:

 

HOW TO CREATE A CALENDAR

  1. Open publisher environment
  2. Click on publication for print
  3. Click on calendar
  4. Then choose your desired calendar

Eg (Art left calendar)

  1. Then you allow the wizard to run
  2. Go to calendar option choose

Landscape or portrait

  1. Go to month or year and choose

Any of them e.g yearly

  1. Go to change date range and click
  2. Choose the year of the calendar you

Want to design

  1. Click on ok
  2. Click on colored scheme
  3. Choose your desired colored scheme
  4. Close the environment of the calendar option

 

HOW TO APPLY BOARDER TO THE CALENDAR

  1. Go to tools bar option
  2. Click on rectangular box
  3. Then move to the top page of the calendar
  4. Click and draw a rectangular box
  5. Double click on the rectangular box
  6. Click on boarder art
  7. Then choose your desired boarder
  8. Click on ok
  9. Go to the weight and increase to 30pt
  10. Go to default and choose your boarder color
  11. Click on ok
    1. After highlight the dates ones after the order
      1. Go to menu bar click on font size 8
      2. After that use your word art text to type the name of the calendar
      3. And apply fill color on the word art text
      4. then to insert the picture
      5. Then you delete the old picture and add your own
      6. click on insert
      7. Click on picture
      8. click on from file
      9. Click on my computer
      10. Click on local disk (c:) and open
      11. Click on program files and open
      12. Search for Microsoft office and click, then open
      13. Click on clip art and open
      14. click on PUB6OCOR
      15. Click on open
      16. Then search for the picture you went and click
      17. click on the picture
      18. Click on insert

 

HOW TO CREATE CERTIFICATE ON THE PUBLISHER ENVIRONMENT

  1. Open a publisher environment
  2. Click on publication for print
  3. Click on view boundaries and guide to remove the blue boarder if you wish to
  4. Click on a rectangular box on the tools bar option
  5. Move to the top of the page
  6. Click and draw to cover the old page
  7. Double click on the line of the rectangle
  8. A dialog box will appear
  9. Click on the boarder art
    1. Choose your desired boarder
    2. Click on ok
    3. Go to weight and increase the weight to 30pt
    4. Go to default and choose your border color
    5. Go to fill color and click
    6. Click on fill effects
    7. Fill effects dialog box will appear
    8. Click on texture
    9. Choose your desired texture as the certificate background
    10. Click on ok
    11. Use word art text for the heading
    12. Use text box for other typing
    13. Use auto shape to draw any draw-able object
    14. You can also insert symbol from the insert menu on the menu bar

OR YOU CAN USE AN ALREADY MADE BOARDER TO CRATE YOUR CERTIFICATE

  1. Open Microsoft publisher environment
  2. Click on view, boundaries and guide to remove the bad boarders
  3. Click on publication for print
  4. Click on award certificate
  5. Scroll and search the boarders of your choice
  6. Click on it
  7. Wait for the wizard to run
  8. Click on what ever that is inside and delete one after the other
  9. By so doing, you are gaining the background and the boarder
  10. Use the word art text to type the heading
  11. Use the text box for the others typing.
