There is an indication that it may not be like business as usual as President-elect General Buhari showed high interest to probe the alleged missing $20 billion. There has been a lingering missing $20 billion from the coffers of the NNPC for some time now without any way to trace the whereabout of the money.
Addressing APC members on April 26th from Adamawa state at the APC National Headquarters in Abuja. The president-elect General Muhammed Buhari querried the rationale behind the dismissal of Former CBN governor who is now the Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II. The then Governor of CBN raised alarm over the missing money. The raised alarm was alleged to be the main reason for his dismissal. Reacting in Hausa to the APC faithful , the President-elect, General Muhammed Buhari has this to say:
I heard that some people have started returning money; I will not believe it until I go and see for myself. Imagine a situation where the former CBN governor who by God grace would later become the Emir of Kano raised an issue of missing billions of money, not in Naira but in Dollars, $20 billion. What happened, instead of investigating to know whether it was true that the money was missing or not, they simply found a reason to remove him. So these are the issues we are talking about
